Chicago routs Carolina, teacher trumps students

SFL Communications

From the first play, this night would belong to the former Skyhawks, not the current ones. Chicago, led by former Skyhawk Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator and head coach Shann Varner, got the job done against his old team in a big way – a 52-31 win at home to improve to 3-2 this season, 3-0 at The Thunderdome.

Running back Dion Hawkins electrified the crowd with 282 yards on the ground on 28 carries. Roderick Moore took all three of his receptions to the house. ET King threw four touchdowns on 14 completions. Blake Hamrac – another former Skyhawk – led the Wildcats in tackles with 11. Veteran back Johnny English continued to struggle (25 carries, 57 yards). Rookie safety Jake Fraser had 10 tackles and a 25-yard INT-TD. Carolina falls to 0-5, giving up over 30 points in their last four losses – more than 50 twice. The game reached 90 concurrent viewers, a SFL record for single-game concurrent viewership.

The Skyhawks welcome the high-powered Stallions to Raleigh next week. Chicago travels to Buffalo to meet Queen City.
