The San Diego Mavericks of the Simulation Football League hope to start the new era with a new mentality and new excitement after four consecutive losing seasons under previous leadership.

This is not a rebrand. This is a Refresh.

The San Diego Mavericks of the Simulation Football League on Veterans Day celebrate San Diego, a military town with a long military history, especially with the Navy & Marine Corps. The Mavericks honor that tradition and pay tribute to the other branches of the U.S. armed forces with their branding.

We begin with the F35 Lightning fighter jet flown by the Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force. Next is the triangle which pays tribute to the logo of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar – formerly Naval Air Station Miramar – where Top Gun used to be headquartered. Our gold star represents families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty.

Flight Suit Green represents the world’s greatest pilots from all five branches of the U.S. military. Gold, to honor America’s fallen heroes and their grieving Gold Star Families. The Mavericks will also use Fighter Jet Grey, Night Ops Black, and Navy Dress White.

SDM will be donating to The Gold Star Ride Foundation which works directly with Gold Star Families. Proceeds from our stores, as well as individual giving, will go to this foundation. In addition, many of our generic players will be named after the fallen heroes of Gold Star families.

Dave Axis has San Diego flying high so far.  Since the ownership change, Axis has brought on Charles Dougherty as President and Head Coach, inked Zac Holldorf as the Mavericks General Manager and tapped Mike O’Neal for the Defensive Coordinator role. The 20th Anniversary SFL season will kick off Thursday January 12.
