The Simulation Football League presented by APM Music has finalized the SFL Minor League’s 5th-season schedule. The league will feature eight teams this season, competing in an eight-week regular season which will culminate in a Championship and Rookie Draft all in the same weekend. All games will continue to air on the SFL’s YouTube channel.
The season kicks off Friday April 22. Defending champion Madison will start the season at rival Annapolis while last season’s runner-up Lexington will visit Tacoma. The other two opening week matchups include Albuquerque traveling to San Jose and Lincoln visiting Ottawa. A championship rematch between Lexington and Madison will take place in Week 7, in Madison.
The league’s top-rated running back Logan Lee (Lincoln) will battle Madison’s Marcus Duncan in Week 3 at the home of the Rattlesnakes. It’s Lincoln’s home opener and the Snakes’ return to the league after three seasons dormant. Albuquerque also returns after a one-season hiatus and will play its home opener in Week 3 too, vs. Tacoma.
The league will have a universal bye week the week of Friday May 20. The regular season will wrap up Thursday June 16, with semifinals Monday June 20 before a Friday June 24 Championship. Round 1 of the Rookie Draft gets underway the next day, Saturday June 25.
