The Simulation Football League presented by APM Music is down to eight teams left in its 17th season. The Quarterfinals begin on Next Level Sports and FTF Twitch Saturday October 23 at 2 pm ET with the No. 7 Arizona Scorpions visiting the No. 3 Atlanta Swarm. Here’s a quick preview of all four matchups and their historical significance.

No. 7 Arizona @ No. 3 Atlanta – Saturday October 23, Next Level Sports (cable/satellite), FTF Twitch (streaming) – visit https://nlse.com/ for a channel guide

The Arizona Scorpions are seeking their first franchise semifinals appearance since Oklahoma City got there by default in Seasons 1 and 2. Arizona will be

facing an Atlanta team that they’re 1-2 against since Team Owner Eddie Gauge took over the team. Atlanta is 4-0 all-time at The Hive in the postseason, but hasn’t won a playoff game since winning the team’s first Championship in Season 14. The two boast top four scoring defenses and know each other extremely well.

No. 5 Vancouver @ No. 4 Mexico City – Saturday October 23, SFL Facebook, Twitter, Twitch and YouTube (streaming)

Another historical visit for Vancouver to Mexico. The three other times the Legion traveled to face the Aztecs?

Vancouver’s inaugural game as a franchise (lost 13-34), Vancouver’s semifinal appearance in the same season (lost 20-23) and at the 2019 SFL Convention in Atlanta (lost 33-45). No, Estadio Azteca has not been kind to the Legion over the last nine seasons, but Vancouver boasts the top passing and total offense to help boost their chances this season. The Aztecs have the league’s top rushing offense: clashing of styles commence!

No. 8 Charleston @ No. 2 Florida – Sunday October 24, For the Fans Network (streaming) – visit https://www.ftfnext.com/ for a channel guide

The Predators are the Cinderella story of the SFL season, going from a change in ownership in the off-season, to

securing their first home playoff game since relocating to South Carolina to winning the team’s first playoff game since the franchise’s inaugural season, Season 10. Their reward? Divisional rival Florida, who is 4-1 all time against the Preds. The Storm had their best regular season since going undefeated in Season 11 (won title) and hope to quiet those who cheer for teams of destiny from the middle of the bracket.

No. 11 Las Vegas @ No. 1 Baltimore – Sunday October 24, For the Fans Network (streaming) – visit https://www.ftfnext.com/ for a channel guide

The Vultures missed out on a chance at an undefeated season, but still broke a slew of SFL records while securing

home field advantage throughout the playoffs. They also get a Fury team who lost in Baltimore 34-0 earlier this season and haven’t beaten Baltimore since January 13, 2019 – and needed three blocked punts to win by one, 31-30. Believe it or not, Baltimore has only won six more games than Vegas (95-89) since the two teams entered the league as expansion squads in Season 11. Baltimore is 43-6 at home since bringing SFL football back to Charm City.
