“To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.” –Bruce Lee
Week 3 gameplay of the SFL was not short on the action. Perhaps it was the great convention vibes that occurred during the weekend, but more teams are starting to find their rhythm and what makes their ball club special and the individuals that make it up. The Players Of The Week displayed what Mr. Lee was expressing in his quote about creating opportunities. In some cases, some of these players teams won because of their efforts shown. I present to thee the picks for week 3!
In a hard fought game against the San Diego Mavericks, the Portland fleet won their game 45-30 and our Offensive Player Of The Week made an impact on the ground with his playmaking ability. He is Running Back, Mr. Ezekiel Love, of the Fleet. Love is having a great season so far and it only continued with his 22 Attempts for 268 Yards, 4 Touchdowns. He had an 86 Yard longest run and averaged 12 Yards Per Carry. If he keeps performing like this, he will be a shoe in for OPOTY! Congratulations Ezekiel!
Runner Up for OPTOW is Mr. D.R. Sim, Wide Receiver for the Houston Hyenas. The Hyenas won their game 23-13 over the Tulsa Desperadoes and Sim showed why he is a Hall Of Fame recipient with his fantastic performance in this game. He had 6 Receptions for 135 Yards and 2 Touchdowns. He had a 76 yard Long play and averaged 22.5 Yards Per Reception. Congratulations D.R.!
Honorable Mention goes out to Mr. Matt Wilson, QB of the Mexico City Aztecs. Another Hall Of Fame member making big plays to help his team get the win as well. 31 Completions on 40 Attempts for 283 Yards and 1 Touchdown. He also helped his team get out of a jam with 4 Carries for 19 Yards and a 24 Yard run to avoid taking a Safety in the End Zone. Congratulations Matt!
The Baltimore Vultures have been known to have one of the best Offenses in the League, and now it seems that their Defense is on the rise as well. The Vultures won their game against the ST. Louis Gladiators, 34-23, and one of the main reasons why was the play making ability of the Defensive Player Of The Week, Mr. Giovanni Bolt, FS for Baltimore. Not only did he have 5 Tackles and 3 Assists, but where he really shined was having 5 Interceptions for 46 Yards and his longest return was for 15 Yards. During that game he was a Quarterback’s nightmare and I believe he will keep this trend going throughout the rest of the season. Congratulations Giovanni!
Runner Up for DPOTW was Fort Worth Toros Linebacker, Mr. E.K. Vinson. He came in this game wanting to make a difference and he did so despite the loss to the London Knights, 23-20. Vinson had 15 Tackles and 4 Tackles For Loss. Hiccups is alive and well and if you are in his way, you will get tackled! Congratulations E.K.!
Honorable Mention goes out to Sean Moore, Linebacker for the Arizona Scorpions. Moore had 12 Tackles and 1 assist. Grrrrrr! Congratulations Sean!
Special Teams Player Of The Week won the game for his team by himself, scoring all the wining points for his team. In a 9 -7 win over the Sioux Falls Sparrows, the L.A. Lycans depended heavily on getting points anyway they could even 1 kick at a time. Mr. Robert Emms, Kicker of L.A. had 3 Field Goals made out of 3 Attempts and his longest kick was for 49 Yards. #kickersmatter and Emms proved that by taking his team, placing them on his back, and putting points on the board! Congratulations Robert!
Runner Up for STPOTW performed great depite the loss to the red hot Vancouver Legion, 34-41. Mr. Otis Boudreaux, Kicker for the Louisiana Revolution, kept his team in the game for a while. He contributed 2 Field Goals out of 2 Attempts and his longest FG was for 51 Yards. Congratulations Otis!
Honorable Mention goes out to Carolina Skyhawks Kicker, Mr. Whistle Jones. He made 2 Field Goals out of his 2 Attempts and his longest was for 50 Yards. Congratulations Whistle!
