Players of the Week – Week 5
As the last car leaves the parking lot and the stadium lights dim, we close another chapter in our SFL History books. This week was filled with top-flight performances that made an impact on the field and on the outcome of the games played. We have gathered a handful of players that deserves this prestigious award and now the time has arrived, for our picks for Week 5.
Offensive Player of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week boiled down to a stellar performance this week and that is quarterback, Mr Josh Miller of the Denver Nightwings. Denver had a stunning win over the London Knights as they scored 58 points to London’s 10. Miller helped in a huge way with 28 completions out of 34 attempts, 390 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also has a completion rate of 82.35% and his longest pass was 30 yards and a QBR of 101.3. Even though he had 2 interceptions, that still didn’t have an effect on the outcome of game. Congrats Josh on a job well done!
Honourable Mentions
Runner up on Offensive Player of the Week is running back Mr Jared Willis of the Jacksonville Kings. He had 28 attempts for 164 yards, 2 touchdowns and averaged 5.9 yards per carry with his longest carry being 74 yards. He also had 5 catches for 32 yards averaging 6.4 yards per catch with 1 touchdown and his longest reception was 11 yards. A great all-round performance Jared and congrats!
Another honourable mention is wide receiver, Mr Stephen Bush for the Florida Storm. He had a classic performance with 13 catches for 203 yards and averaged 15.6 yards per catch. He also had 2 touchdowns and his longest reception was 25 yards. Congrats Stephen!
Defensive Player of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week for the best all-around performance on defense is linebacker, Mr Day Drewery for the Las Vegas Fury. Even though the Fury lost to the Tulsa Desperadoes 13-16, Drewery had an outstanding performance that showed he had heart and the stamina to make much-needed plays. He had 18 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 4 pass deflections and 1 INT for 26YDS. He even scored a touchdown as well! Fantastic performance. Seems like you had a great “Day”! Congrats!
Honourable Mentions
Defensive POTW runner up is none other than Mr Jack Hacksaw, free safety for Chicago Wildcats. He had a great game with 6 tackles, 2 Pass Deflections and 2 interceptions for 11 yards. Way to cut through the offense Hacksaw. Congratulations Jack!
Our final honorable mention goes out to Mr Jack Russell, Strong Safety for the London Knights. He mustered up 13 tackles, 1 pass deflection, 2 interceptions and 24 yards.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Special Teams POTW is Ms Amanda Moyer, Kicker for the Charleston Predators. She sealed the deal with her clutch kicks that help her team win their game over the Arizona Scorpions 16-10. In this well fought battle from both teams, Moyer made all the difference in the world. She made 3 field goals out of 3 attempts and her longest score was 42 yards!. Fantastic job Amanda! Congrats!
Honourable Mentions
Runner Up for STPOTW is Kicker, Ms Amy Schillizzi of the St. Louis Gladiators. She made 2 FG out of the 3 she kicked and her longest kick was 48 yards. Congratulations Amy!
