The beginning of the end, as it’s known. This past week, the tenth out of twelve total for the Simulation Football League’s 14th season, has seen some definitive postseason eliminations. Strangely, the same six teams remain in contention for the Unofficial Championship – but that will change with this upcoming week’s games. Ultimately, now that the postseason picture is solidifying, the choices for who to award each week should, ostensibly, be a bit easier. Not so – as once again, spirited discussion took place as to who deserved the nod and why. Ultimately, several known commodities in the community got the nod this week – not just for their outstanding banter in the chats, either, but for their exemplary on-field performance. Who am I talking about? Well, read on, and find out!
Offensive Player of the Week
Arizona QB Ashley Jackson is this week’s Offensive Player of the Week. With an 80% completion rate and a 122.9 QBR, Jackson led the Scorpions to their second win a row, defeating the St. Louis Gladiators and keeping the Scorpion playoff hopes alive. In order to keep that dream going, Ashley Jackson, who is in the bottom half of all major statistical categories for Quarterbacks, will have to play her best ball over the next two weeks as they host the Las Vegas Fury and then travel to Queen City to take on the Corsairs. With a performance like this in the books? Don’t count your (Scorpion) eggs until they hatch, folks.
Honorable Mention
This week’s Honorable Mention goes to Baltimore Vultures Running Back T-Roy Gaines. The 3rd year Gaines is currently 9th in the SFL in Rushing Yards and 7th in Yards Per Carry average. With Baltimore solidly in the playoff picture, the Vultures will look to continue building momentum heading into the Postseason.
Defensive Player of the Week

Our DPOTW Honorable Mention is Mr. Jeff Melinyshyn, strong safety for the Florida Storm. He helped his team win with 4 solo tackles and 3 assisted, 1 pass deflection, and 97 yard pick-6! The Storm has knack for choosing high quality and highly active players, and Jeff is definitely one of them! Congrats Jeff!
Special Teams Player of the Week
This player has been making significant strides this season to help his team become one of best known outfits in the entire league. Look no further to their squeaker of a win against the Las Vegas Fury. Wide receiver Mr. Harish Prasad helped keep the game close with his super star performance. This week he has 4 kick returns for 178 yards, including a 102 yard Kick return touchdown. Prasad has lit a fire under his team that continues to burns bright every week. Congrats Harish!
Honorable Mention
Honorable Mention for Special Teams this week is the Vancouver Legion’s own free safety, Mr. Marc Lopez. The dual threat on defense mustered up 9 kick returns for 285 yards and 93 yard kick return touchdown. It is expected for Vancouver to make it deep into the playoffs, and maybe even the championship. As long as Marc keeps helping his team receive victories, all the chatter will come true! Congrats Marc!
