With Week Nine now recorded in the history books, the task of choosing who to award this week was even tougher. Atlanta and Vancouver have both clinched playoff spots, and one of them landed a Player of the Week nod as well. Meanwhile, some familiar faces return (must mean it’s an odd-numbered week) and new ones get the nod. Without any further ado, the first of the last third of the Players of the Week for Season 14!

Offensive Player of the Week

Season 14 has been a season of breakout performances and outstanding showmanship from the players of our league. Everyone is out to prove why they are the best, and our pick for the week is no stranger to the lime light. The Vancouver Legion had a great performance against the Jacksonville Kings, and a lot of the team’s success was from Mr. Tom Pepper, quarterback for the Legion. This real life field goal kicker lead his team to victory with an outstanding performance with 31 completions out of 40 attempts, 390 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions. His longest pass was 47 yards. If this trend continues, he will sure to be one of the brightest stars in the playoffs and beyond. Congratulations Tom!

Honorable Mention

Even though Sioux Falls won their game against London with a 31-24 victory, this player did his best to bring his team back from the lost with his great performance. London’s QB, Mr. Angus MacLaine, is one of our two Honorable Mentions this week with 42 completions out of 52 attempts, 315 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions, with his longest throw hitting 24 yards. Keep up the great work Angus!!

Our second Honorable Mention goes to a wide receiver, as he put up great numbers this week as well. He is Mr. Ken Gossett of the Jacksonville Kings. He had 14 catches, 311 reception yards and 2 touchdowns, and his longest reception was 56 yards. He is showing why he is so valuable to the team. Congratulations Ken!

Defensive Player of the Week

If we were to award this to teams that won every week, we’d be missing the forest for the trees. In this instance, we’d be missing Carolina Skyhawk Forrest Stark, whose defensive performance against the Arizona Scorpions included 13 solo tackles, 2 assisted, as well as 3 tackles for a loss and a deflected pass. Mr. Stark is flying high as our Defensive Player of the Week!

Honorable Mention

Nicky Colontrelle of the Las Vegas Fury is our Honoroable Mention this week, with the rookie making an impressive seven solo tackles, 2 assisted, and one pass deflection – as well as nabbing two interceptions!

Special Teams Player of the Week

James Troll of the Queen City Corsairs is once again this week’s Special Teams Player of the Week! Troll was perfect against the Las Vegas Fury, hitting all four of his field goals, with the longest being 44 yards! That’s… a lotta fours, folks. Put em up for James Troll, though, as his exemplary performance has once again netted him honors. Congratulations, James!

Honorable Mention

Coming up close behind is another kicker who can be said to Whistle while he works – Seattle’s very own Whistle Jones! Adding 9 points to their win over the Denver Nightwings was icing on the cake for the Tyrants kicker, who is this week’s Honorable Mention. Well done, Whistle!
