Five weeks in, with the halfway mark fast approaching, only one thing is certain this season in the Simulation Football League: Nothing is certain. From unbelievable WhoYaGot upsets to near-perfect offensive performances south of the border, Week Five was filled with thrills, chills, spills, and insurmountable score hills. With so many marquee performances, selecting this week’s recipients might have been seen by some as an unenviable task. Our team instead viewed it with relish, and are now proud to present to you all the Week 5 Players of the Week for Season 14!
Offensive Player of the Week
This week’s Offensive Player of the Week is current reigning MVP, Mr. Matt “Oh No” Willson, Quarterback of the Mexico City Aztecs. Willson had an incredible aerial assault strategy for this match-up against the London Knights, which helped put his team over the top with their 28 – 56 victory. He went 30 for 37, notching an impressive 353 yards passing, 5 touchdowns, and no mistakes. His longest pass was 47 yards, and his current QBR is 126.7. The “Bronze Bomber” has also been in the league since Season 6 and has made the playoffs every season since Season 8. Willson continues to show us why he is a true legend in the SFL. Congratulations!
Mr. T-Roy Gaines, Running Back of the Baltimore Vultures, is this week’s Honorable Mention. Established in Season 11, Gaines sets the bar high on how a back should perform. In this 14 – 50 victory over the Houston Hyenas, he had 26 carries for a total of 169 yards and 70 long. He also scores 4 tochdowns. Gaines is dangerous in the red zone especially, and scoring each trip. If he continues to perform like this, he will be in the Hall of Fame in no time. Great performance, T-Roy!
Defensive Player of the Week
The Arizona Scorpions as a whole have not had much success, sporting a 1-4 record. However, they are clearly working hard to change that, as Rookie Linebacker Joey Tropicana is this week’s Defensive Player of the Week. With 13 combined tackles, 4 tackles for a loss and a pass defended, Tropicana had the best statistical game of his young career. He will look to carry that momentum into next week’s match-up against a very formidable Atlanta Swarm.
A big reason the Arizona Scorpions fell to 1-4? This week’s Defensive Honorable Mention, Chicago Wildcats Cornerback Jesse Vick. Vick caught 3 of 6 interceptions from Ashley Jackson. Chicago will take a 4-1 record on the road as they visit the Florida Storm.

The Man with the Golden Foot ♪
Ok, maybe it’s not as catchy as the other theme song, but you’ve gotta admit, Anthony Cece is as deadly as they come. Hitting all five of his field goal attempts, including a golden 51-yarder, Cece helped put a 15 point cherry on top of two Wildcat touchdowns that would seal the fate of the Arizona Scorpions. Beware, Florida! His eye may be on you, says me. What will he kick? We shall see…♫
Right behind Anthony Cece for recognition is the other kicker to go 5 for 5 this week, Shark Tarkington of the Baltimore Vultures. In addition to having quite the name, his longest kick this week was a razor sharp 46 yards.
