Just before the season starts on Friday, the Simulation Football League and Houston Hyenas revealed a tweaked look to the Hyenas brand Wednesday night just two days before the home opener against the Arizona Scorpions.

In the works for months, the Hyenas wanted to improve on its branding before opening up its team store, among other exciting changes in the franchise on and off the field.

“As always, we thank partner Matt Doyle Designs for his work on the project,” said Commissioner Cameron Irvine. “The Hyenas wanted a more menacing image and achieved that with this re-tool ahead of the team’s ninth season in the SFL, one of the longest-running teams in the league and Texas’ lone professional sim football squad.”

Houston will keep it’s iconic colors of black, gold and deep red as the franchise attempts to make it back to the playoffs. The Hyenas have been a postseason staple, making the league’s playoff bracket an impressive six out of eight seasons.

“The reason for re-branding the team is to give our fans a more fierce looking logo,” said Team Owner Demond Simien. “I’m excited about the finishing touches. I thank Matt Doyle for his hard work and contribution to the new image. We have a logo now that speaks to us. Our new logo looks like a mean, dark and hungry Hyena!”

The league’s 14th season kicks off Friday at 5 pm ET in Denver. Houston will face Arizona later that night, at 9:30 pm ET.
