Super Duper Player of the Week
Aquantis Shyne, Linebacker, Atlanta Swarm – 21 solo tackles, 24 total tackles, 4 TFLs
In the Swarm’s last game of the season, BDG Hollewood was not the only one playing out of his mind. In fact, Aquantis Shyne managed to pull off a feat never done before. Shyne piled up 21 solo tackles in a game, a new SFL record. The former record-holder, Alex Stackhouse, had 18 solo tackles back around Season 6 in his last season with the Tallahassee Pride (couldn’t confirm specifically when).
Racking up a lot of tackles isn’t new to Shyne, as in 12 games this season he’s recorded 10+ total tackles eight times. His four tackles for loss in the game are also a season high for him. Shyne finished the season tied for the league-lead in tackles with London Knights linebacker Slinn Shady, with each totaling 142 tackles.
Shyne has had over 100 solo tackles for the second consecutive season, and over 100 total tackles for the third time in his career.
Shyne obviously leads his team in tackles, having 44 more tackles than the next (Aaron Lee with 98 total tackles). Shyne’s 625 tackles are also 6th all time, and it’s extremely likely that by the end of next season he’ll be 2nd all-time, trailing only Houston Hyenas strong safety, Eddie Gauge.
