SFL Player of the Week: Week 5

Offensive POTW: Jaye Eniola, Running Back, Tallahassee Pride, 29 carries, 240 yards, 4 TDs, 8.3 YPC

Tallahassee Pride running back, Jaye Eniola ran like a man possessed against the Houston Hyenas. A week after an all-around career game, he’s already tied his career high in carries (29) and touchdowns (4). This game put Eniola over 1,000 rushing yards on the season, leading all running backs in yards (1,084), yards per carry (8.5), and touchdowns (11).

Honorable Mention: Ash Odom, Running Back, Queen City Corsairs, 35 carries, 247 yards, 1 TD, 7.1 YPC

The Queen City Corsairs took on the Chicago Wildcats and came away with a 23-14 win in large part to Ash Odom putting together another great game. Odom finished with season-highs in carries (35) and yards (247). Odom is currently second in the league in touchdowns (9), rushing yards (859) and yards per carry (6.2), all behind Tallahassee Pride running back Jaye Eniola.

Defensive POTWAaron Lee, Strong Safety, Atlanta Swarm, 3 INTs, 1 TD, 8 total tackles

On Monday night, the Atlanta Swarm took on the Oklahoma City Renegades, one of the best passing offenses in the game. Renegades quarterback Deacon Nickens had thrown 11 touchdowns to just five interceptions. Swarm strong safety Aaron Lee shut down one side of the field and made life difficult for the pass-happy Renegade offense. Lee came away with three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, and played a big role in throwing Nickens off his game and helping the Swarm come away with a big win at home.

Honorable Mention: Alex Bond, Strong Safety, Tallahassee Pride, 2 INTs, 1 TD, 6 total tackles, 1 TFL

In the highest-scoring game of the week, the Tallahassee Pride took down the Houston Hyenas 48-31. Pride strong safety Alex Bond had two of Hyenas quarterback Kentez Johnson’s three interceptions in the game, returning one for a touchdown. Bond also finished tied for first in total tackles for the Pride with six, including a tackle for loss. This is Bond’s second consecutive game with an interception, and his first multiple interception game of the season.
