The defending champions aren’t playing like their normal selves. The Queen City Corsairs are known for their slow starts, but this season haven’t had many troubles. Queen City won their third game in a row Sunday, knocking the St. Louis Gladiators with a cruising 42-24 win – in the rain on Park HeeChul’s jersey retirement night. HeeChul played for both Queen City and St. Louis during his career.

Both teams had over 200 yards rushing, including Adam Fennell in his first game (19 carries, 217 yards, 2 TD). Fennell was actually mic’d up on the broadcast and called his third-quarter touchdown just before the snap. Kyle Walsh paced the offense (26 carries, 202 yards, 3 TD) while Chris Bush (7 receptions, 145 yards, 2 TD) shined in the passing game. For the second time this season, rookie linebacker Alex Cross shined against St. Louis – this meeting recording 10 tackles and 2 sacks. The result wasn’t a 52-7 rout like it was in Week 1, but the Gladiators still didn’t have nearly enough defensive prowess to slow down QCC. Declan Slaughter was St. Louis’ headliner, returning an interception 66 yards for a touchdown, the rookie’s first pick-six.

Next up, Queen City returns home after a lengthy road trip to face Chicago for the first time this season. St. Louis faces a daunting task of a road game in Tallahassee, the only place Queen City has lost all season.
