Atlanta has been clutch in the first three weeks. When the Swarm need a play, they get one and their big-play ability once again helped the Swarm to victory in Week 3, 28-20 at St. Louis to keep the Gladiators in the Eastern Conference cellar.
Despite being out-gained 376-225 and producing just five first downs, Atlanta prevailed. The Swarm offense had the ball just a little over 14 minutes. St. Louis had possession for 29-plus. Through three weeks, Atlanta has scored 14 touchdowns – 10 of 40 yards or more – of those 10, seven of over 60 yards; another a 27-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Nic Nitro’s pick-six against St. Louis helped Atlanta become the first team this season with two interceptions taken back for touchdowns. In the box score, linebacker Colin Lamarche was a standout (14 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 PD).
Atlanta (3-0) will host Queen City (2-1) next week in a Eastern Conference headliner. St. Louis (0-3) will host on-fire Koma Keleka and the Cleveland Stallions (1-2).
